The Chicago Blitz are pleased to release their 2016 AIF season schedule. This year, the Blitz play an eight game regular season schedule, which features five home games at The Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park, Illinois. The schedule opens up at the Odeum on Sunday, March thirteenth, and includes three home tilts to close out the regular season in May.
The three road contests consist of two trips to face the Western Michigan Ironmen in Muskegon, Michigan and one trip to St. Charles, Missouri to take on the River City Raiders.
Chicago Blitz tickets will once again this year be available through Ticketforce. Special group rates and packages are also available. See our "TIckets" page of this website for more info.
We look forward to seeing you at the Odeum!
When the Chicago Blitz formed in 2014, there were many who didn't believe they had a chance to succeed. All the Blitz did in response was post a 7-3 season mark in the Continental Indoor Football League, narrowly missing the playoffs.
In 2015, after a move to the AIF, once again the indoor football community didn't expect much from the franchise. How did they respond? A regular season campaign that finished with a 6-2 record. In their first playoff appearance, the Blitz produced a convincing road win over their chief rival, the Saginaw Sting, in Saginaw. This led to the first championship game appearance for the Blitz, which ended with a loss to the York Capitals in York, Pennsylvania. The team once again finished the season with a 7-3 mark.
As the team prepares to enter the 2016 season, the team once again finds itself facing new challenges after a turbulent offseason for indoor football. The AIF has expanded from 9 teams to 20 teams, absorbing franchises from the PIFL and X-League, both of which dissolved after the 2015 season. The addition of teams such as the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks and Columbus Lions from the PIFL, as well as the Florida Tarpons and St. Louis Attack (rebranded as the River City Raiders) from the X-League has elevated the level of competitiveness in the AIF across the board for the 2016 season.
And the Blitz wouldn't have it any other way. "With all the changes this year, I'm very proud of what we've been able to accomplish in the offseason.", said Head Coach, Mike Oliver. "We have assembled what we feel is the most talented group of players we've ever had coming into camp. We will have a very difficult time making decisions as we trim the roster down to 25 for the season. The competition for every position is going to be intense."
The Blitz will call the Odeum Expo & Convention Center in Villa Park, Illinois, home for the 2016 season as they did in 2015. Tickets for home games will be available once the league finishes the regular season schedule.
